Utah House District 46
Help us campaign today for a better tomorrow.
If you are looking for a representative who truly cares, look no further! With a lifetime of experience, I will advocate for our needs effectively.in the Utah House.
I appreciate your support and look forward to serving our community in the house of representatives on your behalf.
We are a healthy citizenry because we care about our wellbeing. Air quality plays a role in our safety. We enjoy being outside for many reasons, whether walking, biking, hiking, playing, or just sitting on our back porch. Our health isn’t all that is at risk. The economy requires that our outdoor recreation is enjoyed in a clean environment. There are indeed geographic elements that make our air quality an issue at times, but we can do more. With you, I will advocate for best ideas that bring down harmful emission's.
I guess that you live in Utah because you love it as I do? And that you would like to see family live near you with a diverse employment opportunity should they desire. For our state to continue with the enviable status of having a favorable business climate, we need a representative who understands the market. I know creativity and entrepreneurship rise to meet market demand when left to operate without interference. For us to enjoy good jobs, we need strong businesses. Our investments today open doors for the future.
The pandemic has given us a clear perspective on the value of education. Our teachers are the backbone of a healthy and growing youth. We know now, more than ever, that the future of our children, families, and state is reliant on our ability to educate and prepare our children for their future. Our teachers do a remarkable job of caring about our children. We owe these dedicated experts the support they need, whether it be professional development, classroom resources, or the freedom to utilize their talents. I support our public education system, which needs to be a priority on the hill as we work with educators in new and innovative ways.
Utah leads the nation as one of the strongest, most diverse economies in the country. As is discussed in business, this provides opportunities as well as gives us unique challenges. Decisions made today will have a lasting generational impact on our citizens. Without proper leadership, growth can diminish our quality of life. My experience will allow us to take advantage of the opportunities while enhancing those reasons we have chosen to call Utah home!
I LOVE OUR OUTDOORS! But beyond participating in a wide variety of outdoor activities, I have spent sixteen years preserving public lands. I served for eight years on Utah’s Quality Growth Commission, which I chaired. During my term of service, we protected nearly 60,000 acres that include projects in our area, such as the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, Willow Heights in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Drapers Corner Canyon, and Red Butte Garden/Heritage Preserve. I am an advisor to Utah Open Lands and am working personally to create a new two-mile trail in Davis County. I served as chair of Utah State Parks sitting on their board for eight years. As your representative, I will continue my efforts to preserve our great outdoors for our future generations.
To know me is to understand I don’t care about an individual's political affiliation. I believe in people and that we share common goals and aspirations. My perspective may be why I have support across political lines. Many friends and family have chosen a differing political view than mine. These choices don’t affect my interest in their wellbeing, nor do they limit my desire to help where I can. I am a proud Republican because I believe the government is the servant of the people, which is fundamental to our platform. I know when we limit the role of government in society, individuals, businesses, and institutions thrive. A conservative leader asks themselves one question as they seek public policy, “should the government be doing this?”
Some could effectively suggest I’ve gone mad to consider running for our Utah House seat. My wife, Kim, certainly feels this way! It isn’t uncommon for us to see the negative aspects of public office as community zealots reach beyond social norms making personal attacks. Outbreaks are often filled with inaccuracies in order to meet personal agendas. What is missing from the discussion is the good that comes from those who are serving others. Their willingness to share wisdom through life experience aids us all. It is a driver for those who have benefitted directly from someone who has helped them. I am the recipient of others who have served me. Through gratitude, I feel a sense of duty.
From my youth, my parents, by example, gave of themselves willingly through service. They knew that by giving we receive, that should someone in need benefit from their work, a loved one may receive the same benefit from others one day. Should we be fortunate enough to give a hand up to someone in need, we well may receive their hand when we are down.
I am living proof of their wisdom! My life has been filled with tremendous highs where I was able to give of myself, and times I felt there was no bottom when the gift of love raised me from despair. Running for office isn’t a stepping stone or a resume builder; it is responsibility ingrained in my soul. Our adversity is a wake-up call to greatness. It is a teacher of tremendous wisdom.
Imagine a representative who could effectively advocate for you and your family through their life experiences. Someone who knows the difficulties facing individuals, families and businesses. Someone with a clear vision of how to lead us into the future. Someone willing to give so that others can benefit, knowing his loved ones too will someday receive.
· When my grandmother couldn’t find a retirement home that met her needs, I built one that stands today as a market leader in treating for the elderly with love and compassion.
· When I could see the spirit of a community needed to be shared with the world, I lead a convention hotel offering needed employment while showing off the goodness of a community.
· When I could see, there is a need for advocating for our outdoors; I shared ways we could effectively preserve critical lands and enjoy our state recreational areas.
· When I realized a deteriorating neighborhood could be revitalized by simple renovation, I helped revitalize declining areas.
· When I realized an addict needed hope and connection, I dedicated myself to providing that hope and making the connections.
· When I understood someone suffering needed love and support, I opened doors, gave sincere optimism, and provided where I could.
· When I realized we are more similar than different, I accepted others, knowing we have common goals and aspirations. Our outside appearance tells little about our souls.
I could go on as I have served in one volunteer capacity or another for over thirty-four years. These years have taught me how to find a solution to any relevant problem. I have learned none of us have all the answers, but that many can assist and are willing to do so. When we realize our strengths and weaknesses, we can fill in the gaps by actively listening to others who have experience.
I care, I can solve problems, I have no agenda, I have the experience, and I will advocate for our needs effectively.
I have known and worked with Jaren for several years now through the Salt Lake Home Builders Association which Jaren oversees. Although we don’t always agree politically Jaren is an individual who truly listens and is willing to listen to all sides of a topic and can stand his ground when needed, compromise when needed and take a step back and reposition his opinion when needed. When I am communicating with Jaren I know I have his full attention and he wants to help in getting to the right solution. I am confident in his ability to take his knowledge, passion for Utah and love for the people of Utah and represent us well as a state representative. He will be a leader who will study the issues and help make the decisions that will most benefit the State of Utah and more importantly the people of Utah on both sides of the aisle.
Jaren is a talented real estate professional, but also one who is committed to conservation and protecting critical lands. For seventeen years, I was the staff of the Utah Quality Growth Commission and manager of the LeRay McAllister Critical Land Conservation Fund. For several of those years, Jaren Davis was Commission Chair. As chairman of the Utah Quality Growth Commission, Jaren worked tirelessly to ensure that hundreds of thousands of acres of critical farmland, wildlife habitat, recreation property and watersheds in Utah were conserved for future generations. He gets the need to balance providing homes and businesses for our growing population with the need to preserve and conserve critical lands that ensure our well-being, and provide clean water, food and fiber for our citizens. This quality is exactly what we need in our real estate professionals. I cannot recommend Jaren highly enough.
Jaren Davis is truly a man of his word. In today’s world, many people feel divided by party lines. Jaren is one who reaches across party lines and listens to everyone regardless of party affiliation. Jaren is a breath of fresh air for our area and he always seeks to unite rather than divide. I know I can call Jaren anytime with questions, ideas or even just to say hi and he picks up on the first ring. Jaren listens to and validates my concerns. He knows me and my family and I trust he will vote for his constituents, not his own personal or donors’ agenda. We all know that our state government is only as strong as our local government, and with Jaren I know our local government will remain strong and listened to. I back Jaren 100%.
Jaren and I became acquainted through our respective roles running home builders associations. Through the years, I have come to know Jaren as trustworthy, generous of his time, empathetic, caring and a good friend. It is clear that he loves Utah and his community and will work to take care of both for future generations. He is a family man and possesses all the traits one would want and expect from a public servant. If I could vote for him, I certainly would!
Whenever I think of Jaren, I see his brilliant smile with an intellect to match. He possesses a rare ability to assimilate complex issues very rapidly and form solid, strategic resolutions. I value Jaren's advice on any topic.
It has been my good fortune to know Jaren Davis for more than 15 years. I first met Jaren when he served on the Board of Directors of the Community Development Corporation of Utah (CDCUtah), where I was the CEO. At CDCUtah, we had the mission to develop and support affordable homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income families, and to revitalize distressed neighborhoods. Jaren's commitment to the mission helped us serve hundreds of households across the state, and contribute to the stability of many communities. What is more, he helped us create the Community Development Fund, a non-profit lender to economically disadvantaged families. Jaren Davis is an exceptional leader with keen business sense and a commitment to helping all communities and individuals thrive.
I met Jaren Davis when we both served on the Utah State Parks Board. Jaren is on of my most treasured friends and colleagues. He loves Utah, it's people and is the prefect person to build relationships and find win win solutions for Utah.
Jaren is an exceptional leader and energetic problem solver. One of his greatest assets is his ability to actively listen to others and help them. He makes connections and links opportunities in a way that allows those around him to thrive. He takes care of people first and the results are astounding. I am fortunate to have worked with him on business and political issues where he really shines. His leadership abilities are nothing short of amazing.
My friend, Jaren Davis, is running for the Utah State House. I recommend him to you as someone I know will strive to bring (as Abraham Lincoln said) “the better angels of our nature” to that work. I’ve known Jaren for over 25 years- first as a professional colleague when he was elected President of a non-profit group I led, and thereafter as a good friend. During his tenure as President, Jaren was dedicated, hardworking and professional in his vision for the organization but also extremely considerate and kind in his treatment of the staff and association members. He brought an honest, pragmatic, and hopeful insight into the problems and needs of our organization. Jaren was (and is) fair minded and willing to examine the issues and listen closely to the questions and concerns of all involved. Jaren’s experience and success in business, local, state and national professional associations as well as many years working with local and state government have all prepared him for the hard work of the State House. But more than that, I also recommend him as a man of character and integrity whom you can trust to represent your values in the Utah State House. I urge you to vote for Jaren Davis.
Jaren truly cares for people and gives back to those around him. With his vast experience working in various rolls he understands how to work with others, he is a people person who listens to everyone. I could not think of a better person to address the issues we must deal with as a state and how it will impact our beautiful area. It is time for our voice to be heard. I fully support Jaren as the next Representative for District 46
Life presents many highlights, not many exceed expressions of love from family. I was shocked, humbled, yet learned the value of family. Times we don't forget.
