We are a healthy citizenry because we care about our wellbeing. Air quality plays a role in our safety. We enjoy being outside for many reasons, whether walking, biking, hiking, playing, or just sitting on our back porch. Our health isn’t all that is at risk. The economy requires that our outdoor recreation is enjoyed in a clean environment. There are indeed geographic elements that make our air quality an issue at times, but we can do more. With you, I will advocate for best ideas that bring down harmful emission's.
I guess that you live in Utah because you love it as I do? And that you would like to see family live near you with a diverse employment opportunity should they desire. For our state to continue with the enviable status of having a favorable business climate, we need a representative who understands the market. I know creativity and entrepreneurship rise to meet market demand when left to operate without interference. For us to enjoy good jobs, we need strong businesses. Our investments today open doors for the future.
The pandemic has given us a clear perspective on the value of education. Our teachers are the backbone of a healthy and growing youth. We know now, more than ever, that the future of our children, families, and state is reliant on our ability to educate and prepare our children for their future. Our teachers do a remarkable job of caring about our children. We owe these dedicated experts the support they need, whether it be professional development, classroom resources, or the freedom to utilize their talents. I support our public education system, which needs to be a priority on the hill as we work with educators in new and innovative ways.
Utah leads the nation as one of the strongest, most diverse economies in the country. As is discussed in business, this provides opportunities as well as gives us unique challenges. Decisions made today will have a lasting generational impact on our citizens. Without proper leadership, growth can diminish our quality of life. My experience will allow us to take advantage of the opportunities while enhancing those reasons we have chosen to call Utah home!
I LOVE OUR OUTDOORS! But beyond participating in a wide variety of outdoor activities, I have spent sixteen years preserving public lands. I served for eight years on Utah’s Quality Growth Commission, which I chaired. During my term of service, we protected nearly 60,000 acres that include projects in our area, such as the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, Willow Heights in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Drapers Corner Canyon, and Red Butte Garden/Heritage Preserve. I am an advisor to Utah Open Lands and am working personally to create a new two-mile trail in Davis County. I served as chair of Utah State Parks sitting on their board for eight years. As your representative, I will continue my efforts to preserve our great outdoors for our future generations.
To know me is to understand I don’t care about an individual's political affiliation. I believe in people and that we share common goals and aspirations. My perspective may be why I have support across political lines. Many friends and family have chosen a differing political view than mine. These choices don’t affect my interest in their wellbeing, nor do they limit my desire to help where I can. I am a proud Republican because I believe the government is the servant of the people, which is fundamental to our platform. I know when we limit the role of government in society, individuals, businesses, and institutions thrive. A conservative leader asks themselves one question as they seek public policy, “should the government be doing this?”
